The Social Media Specialist (SMS) will support the execution of Social Media initiatives within the company. This position will support social media at a strategic and tactical level-- working closely with the Social Media Committee, Marketing Managers, and Social Media Community Managers to establish priorities and execute social media initiatives. The SMS will also manage select Destination profiles and programs, including the monitoring and response to mentions of our core brands (�??Conversational Marketing�?) and management of one or more communities (e.g. Facebook or Twitter).
Job Functions (Items marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this position):
Lead social media projects. The SMS will initiate and lead select Destination and property-specific initiatives (e.g. establishing check-ins for Location-Based Marketing or researching Facebook page management platforms).
The SMS will also be responsible for managing one or more of our Destination-focused communities.*
Oversee the monitoring and response to social media chatter. The SMS will manage our "Conversational Marketing" program, working with a team to track and respond to mentions of our core brands across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TripAdvisor, Google Plus, Yelp, and others. The SMS will ensure that we have the right tools in place, that our brands are represented appropriately, and that insights from these conversations are shared with stakeholders.*
Manage the Community Manager network. The SMS will work closely with the Community Managers, serving as the liaison between the CM community, the Online Brand Managers, and the Social Media Committee. The SMS will recruit and train new leaders, help new communities get off the ground, establish success metrics and timelines, encourage knowledge sharing across the CM network, provide suggestions and ideas for improvement, coordinate marketing initiatives to drive traffic to their communities, track progress and report back to the Social Media Committee.*
Establish standards for Social Media Projects. The SMS will work with the Social Media Committee to establish, document, and maintain standards for social media projects, from the voice we use in conversation to the crisis communication plan to the naming conventions we use.*
Track and report on the health and progress of our program. The SMS will establish, track, and share key metrics on the success of our social media program (to the Marketing Manager, Online Brand Managers, and Social Media Committee) and use that information to improve our social media projects and other marketing initiatives*
Support social PR initiatives. The SMS will work with the PR team to integrate traditional and social public relations programs, including but not limited to blogger outreach, press room optimization, online and social press releases, content distribution, and other initiatives as directed. *
Basic Qualifications:
18 years of age or older.
Bachelor's degree (Relevant work experience can be substituted for education)
Minimum of 3 years of related experience in Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience managing social media communities for a business preferred.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
Must haVe effective written and verbal communication skills
Must be organized, professional, and exceptional with follow-through.
Experience in the Hospitality & Entertainment industry preferred.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
Must have strong initiative and follow through.
Must be self-motivated and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
